Buses in Sardinia
We have listed below details of the five main bus companies which operate on the Island of Sardinia. If you are planning on travelling by public transport before starting off on your journey check carefully that it runs to the area you need to reach as some parts of Sardinia can be badly connected.
Another alternative is to hire a car in Sardinia as this will give you the freedom and flexibility to explore the island at your own pace and also get to places off the tourist and public transport route.

Sardinian Buses
ARST (Azienda Regionale Sarda Trasporti) is the Regional Sardinian Bus company network. ARST bus stations can be found in the main cities with buses connecting to most of the Sardinian provinces as running four daily excursions to the historic Roman city of Tharros.
They offer Tourist Bus tickets which can take you all over the island for a fixed valid from the 1st of June to the 30th of September. There a four ticket types available: for 7 days at €45, 14 days at €70, 21 days at €100 and 28 days for €130.
Tickets must be stamped in the vehicle on the date of purchase and can be purchased in any ARST ticket office in Cagliari, Sassari, Oristano, Nuoro, Olbia, Lanusei and Guspini.

The Ferrovie Meridionali Sarde bus network serves mainly the Southwestern part of Sardinia covering areas around Cagliari and the Sulcis Iglesiente region. Tickets are available in bar or tobacconists located near bus stops because this company does not have public offices in the main cities. The buses are comfortable and air-conditioned.

Ferrovia del Sargena buses provide direct or regional buses which connect to Cagliari from Porto Torres, Sassari or vice versa. The regional bus stops at several minor towns and other destinations while the direct service runs to Sassari from Cagliari without any other stop en route. Tickets are available on the buses and can be purchased right before departure

Turmo Travel is based in Olbia and provides bus connections from Cagliari to Olbia. The departure time from Piazza Crispi in Olbia is normally at 04:45 and arrives in Piazza Matteotti in Cagliari at 09:01. From Cagliari the departure is normally at 05.30 or 14:30 from Piazza Matteotti arriving at Olbia Piazza Crispi approximately 5 hours later. The coaches are very modern, comfortable and air-conditioned.

Logudoro Tours is also a private bus company. They are based in Sassari and provide a bus service from Alghero Fertilia Airport to destinations including Macomer, Oristano and Cagliari. This bus line is especially good for passengers traveling with RyanAir flights to Alghero, but other passengers can use this service.
